August 7th: Luke 16:19-31

Luke 16:19-31

There's so much in this reading! But we'll focus on just a small part of it.

The rich man wanted Lazarus to rise from the dead and come back and warn his brothers so that they wouldn't end up in hell with him.  However, he was told, "If they do not hear Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be convinced if someone should rise from the dead.

Of course a man named Lazarus did rise from the dead and he did testify to the reality that Jesus is the Messiah, the Savior of the World. Yet after his resurrection, many of the Pharisees didn't change their minds about Jesus, but instead wanted to see Lazarus and Jesus dead.

We can't convince those who will not believe, but we can make known the truth that Jesus is alive, that He is the Messiah, and that by faith in Him there is forgiveness and salvation for all!

Will all believe? No.
Will some become angry with us? Yes.
But will some believe?  Absolutely.

So let's be bold in making Jesus known to the world!
